PARAGUAY | 2012 Meet the Misses e.31 - Miss Mundo Paraguay 2012

Paraguay is the heart of South America, it is one of the two landlocked countries of the continent. The Paraguay River traverse the nation dividing the country in two distinct ecological and geological regions. The eastern region have grassy plains and wooden hills and the western region have low and marshy plains. The Guarani people have been living in Paraguay before the arrival of the Spaniards in the 16th century. Their dialect is widely spoken along with Spanish in the nation. Paraguay is divided by the Río Paraguay into the eastern region, called Eastern Paraguay and known as the Paraná region; and the western region, officially called Western Paraguay and also known as the Chaco. Paraguay's cultural heritage can be traced to the extensive intermarriage Spaniards and Guaranís. Paraguayan culture therefore is a fusion of two cultures and traditions: one European, the other Guaraní. More than 93% of Paraguayans are mestizos, making Paraguay one of the most homogeneous countries in Latin America. A characteristic of this cultural fusion is the extensive bilingualism present to this day: more than 80% of Paraguayans speak both Spanish and the indigenous language, Guaraní. Jopara, a mixture of Guaraní and Spanish, is also widely spoken. Paraguay's past was characterized by political instability and devastating wars with their neighbors including the Triple Alliance War. Paraguay debuted in Miss World back in 1959 and produced three placements in 1985, 2010 and 2011. Fiorella Migliore Llanes is the representative from this nation in Miss World 2012 after winning the Miss Mundo Paraguay 2012 title.

The Times of Beauty proudly presents Fiorella Migliore Llanes, Miss Mundo Paraguay 2012, in an exclusive interview for our interview series, Meet the Misses.

1.    Give us an introduction of yourself, your country and your hometown.
I was born in Asuncion, Paraguay. I had a fun childhood traveling and enjoying with my family. I have a brother almost the same age and my parents are like my friends. Since I lived in two different cities when I was little, I can say that Paraguay has this special magic in the environment. People are very warm and friendly. The country has distinct places and landscapes that give a natural touch to the place wherever you are. Even that we have a beautiful mix of origins from Germany, Italy and other countries, we have a distinct and marked culture, from the way we speak to the native cuisine, dances and songs.

2.    What are your plans for the future?
I want to dedicate myself to the things that make me feel fulfilled. I love arts, and I feel it is a beautiful way to connect body and soul. This is why I love acting among other things. My long term plan is to be a good will ambassador and go around the world doing social projects and supporting foundations that work hard to create a better world.

3.    What are you most proud of?
To be around people that makes my life more beautiful each day and gives me the strength to achieve any objective that I set to myself. To be able to contribute to make other people’s lives better. This is something that is worth all efforts and motivates me to want to do it always.

4.    Which activities make you lose track of time?
Painting, traveling, sharing happy moments and being surrounded by love that makes any “simple moment” into one magical and infinite. Those are moments that make me lose track of time.

5.    If somebody was describing your personality what would they say?
I’ve been told that I am a happy person that always tries to transmit that happiness to those surrounding me. I consider myself happy and positive. I try to see every experience as an opportunity to learn and improve my knowledge.

6.    What is something you know you do differently than the most other people?
Maybe painting? I like painting a lot and write in my paintings. Even if I don’t know how to draw properly, I try and draw anything that comes to my mind. It is a beautiful therapy for the soul. Talking about simpler things, I could say breakfast. I like to have soup of vegetables, seaweed and other oriental ingredients. I try to keep a macrobiotic diet.

7.    Have you done anything memorable lately?
I have done things that when I remember them, I feel happy. It would be the charity activities that I participate which make me happy because I feel that I am doing something transcendental, something that makes others happy and since others are happy, I am happy.

8.    Which is worse, failing or never trying? Why?
It is worse to never try. I think errors exists in few or rare moments. Every fall is a victory, an opportunity to grow and learn. I don’t think I would be able to cross to the next life with tranquility knowing that I never tried to do something that I wanted to do.

9.    If you could teach anyone anything, what would that be?
I would like to emphasize the lesson of life and honor that Nelson Mandela taught his people, and that lesson is forgiveness. After years of repression in South Africa suffering discrimination, he led his people and taught them that there is an exit, a more humane exit.  If many world leaders would follow Mandela’s example, things would be different nowadays and people that are no longer with us would have had a better life.

10.    How do you define beauty? How will you prepare for Miss World to achieve your vision of beauty?
It’s like a WHOLE, a gorgeous concept that refers to a human being with integrity. I believe that art and introspection help to construct that beauty that I have as a vision and as a mission. I am preparing myself in several aspects. One of them is the talent competition and the Beauty with a Purpose project. I am giving my mind and soul to give strength to this project. I am extending both of my hands and sharing my heart for the children of my country.
