HUNGARY | 2012 Meet the Misses e.28 - A Szépségkirálynő 2012

Hungary is one of the oldest European countries, situated in the middle of the continent in Central Europe. Following a Celtic and a Roman period, the foundation of Hungary was laid in the late 9th century by the Hungarian ruler Árpád. The Kingdom of Hungary lasted for 946 years and at various points was regarded as one of the cultural centers of the Western world. After about 150 years of partial Ottoman occupation, Hungary was integrated into the Habsburg Monarchy, and later constituted half of the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy. Hungarians speak a language and form a culture unlike any other in the region: this distinctiveness has been both a source of pride and an obstacle for more than 1100 years. The nation boasts one of the world's most beautiful cities: Budapest, the "Pearl of the Danube". Hungary is a place where 2000 year old Roman ruins and 400 year old Turkish monuments can be found side by side. It is a place where Central Europe's largest fresh water lake, Balaton, is located. The country is home to Lake Hévíz, the largest thermal water cave system and the second largest thermal lake in the world and Hortobágy, the largest natural grasslands in Europe. These features are part of the reason why Hungary is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Slightly more than one half of Hungary's landscape consists of flat to rolling plains of the Pannonian Basin most notably in the west and the southeast. Transdanubia is a primarily hilly region with a terrain varied by low mountains. The highest mountains of the country are located in the Carpathians. Hungary is divided in two by its main waterway, the Danube. Hungary has 10 national parks, 145 minor nature reserves and 35 landscape protection areas. Hungary has given the world numerous discoveries in physics, mathematics and science and it is the home of the Rubik's Cube. Hungary debuted in Miss World 1989 and this year Tamara Cserháti, A Szépségkirálynő 2012, will represent the nation in Ordos.

The Times of Beauty proudly presents Tamara Cserháti, A Szépségkirálynő 2012, in an exclusive interview for our interview series, Meet the Misses.

1. Give us an introduction of yourself, your country and your hometown.
I am Tamara Cserháti, I am 20 years old. I am currently studying Andragogy at the West-Hungarian University, in Győr. My ambition is to continue my education and go abroad to practice my language knowledge at German.
I have two sisters. My parents are soldiers. Their life is very busy, so when my father on duty or in a mission, (last time in Chad) I have to help my mother as much as I can. I clean, do the ironing and cook a lot. Now I love cooking, if I have enough time I always make a cake for surprise. I have learned many things from them, probably therefore I am very accurate, precise, and determinate.
In my free time I love going out with my boyfriend and friends. My hobbies include: running, biking, skiing, snowboarding and swimming. I love traveling, visiting new places and learning about different cultures.
Hungary is situated in the heart of Europe in the Carpathian basin approximately an equal distance from the Equator and the North Pole. The country occupies a territory of about 93,000 square kilometers and there are about ten million people living here. There are nineteen counties. Our country can be divided into three large regions: Transdanubia, the Great Plain and Northern Hungary. The Transdanubian part is mainly hilly with the exception of the northern region, which is called the Small Plain. The soil is exceptionally good there for crops and vegetables. A similar area is a Great Plain, where most of Hungary’s crops are grown. Northern Hungary is fairly mountainous and the country’s highest peak can also be found there. Hungary belongs to the drainage system of Europe’s second largest river, the Danube. The Tisza is another long river and Lake Balaton is the second largest freshwater lake in Central and Western Europe.
I like Hungary because of its natural treasure, friendly and hospitable inhabitants.
I live in Győr, on the north-west part of Hungary, which is the third largest city of my country, known as the city of meetings. This mellow and colourful town is situated half way between Vienna and Budapest, and it has architectural, cultural and natural treasures. Hungary's second richest town in historic buildings outside Budapest has won Europe-award for the protection of the historic buildings.

2. What are your plans for the future?
I want to continue my education and go to abroad to practice my language knowledge at German. Although I’m a goal-orientated person, I hope that I will be doing things that I love; and hopefully they will be things that also benefit my community. I can imagine myself as a spokesman of an endowment, and work for diseased children.

3. What are you most proud of?

First of all, I am very proud to win my National Title, it’s a great honour and with pride I represent my country in Miss World.
Secondly, I am very proud of myself to got into University, it was very hard to get in.
Last but not least, I am very proud of my family, because they are always with me with their love and help.

4. Which activities make you lose track of time?
I have been dancing for 10 years. I tried ballet, latin dancing, folk dancing and hip-hop, so dancing is the activity that I can lose track of time. Of course I must not forget the sport, running, swimming, and going to the gym. I also get lost in movies, I like going to cinema with my friends.
Furthermore I have to mention I like surfing on the internet, reading or learning.

5. If somebody was describing your personality what would they say?
Optimistic, friendly, honest, and very helpful person.

6. What is something you know you do differently than the most other people?
Although I am young I take my life seriously, I try to live a healthy lifestyle, do a lot of sport activities. I try to save and preserve the environment, the nature and try to help as many people as I can.

7. Have you done anything memorable lately?
For the preparation of Miss Charity before the national competition I introduced my loved foundation called "Sound of Heart”.  The “Sound of the Heart” Foundation was founded in December 2002. Their aims are: to contribute and improve the instrumentation of local hospitals of child cancer, to improve the situation of the socially and medically needy people. It means that annually they can buy 8-10 life-saving medical instruments thanks to the many people assume their social responsibility and how many tenders they can win.
I visited children in the hospital Heim Pal in Budapest with them. There are many children requiring constant monitoring there. I brought them various gifts, it was fantastic to help and to see their bright eyes and happy faces.

8. Which is worse, failing or never trying? Why?
Never trying is definitely worse than failing. My parents are soldiers and they have always taught me that if I start something I have to finish it. If I fail I can learn from my mistakes. I can improve myself, then I can try it again, and do it better.
As the saying goes: Practice makes perfect.

9. If you could teach anyone anything, what would that be?

If I could teach anyone, it would be the love of the life. Our life is very short and precious so we should live and enjoy it. We should respect the World, our fellow-creatures, the nature which surrounds us.

10. How do you define beauty? How will you prepare for Miss World to achieve your vision of beauty?
Beauty is a highly subjective thing to quantify. Probably for many people a graceful shape, long hair and the bright eyes are enough. My opinion is that, the beauty means, what is in your heart, true beauty is in the way somebody laughs, it is in our eyes.
Although the sport activity and the healthy lifestyle is part of my life, for the contest I did everything more intensively, I was on diet, I was running every day, and swimming 3 times in a week.
