HONDURAS | 2012 Meet the Misses e.25 - Señorita Honduras 2012

In pre-Columbian times, modern Honduras was part of the Mesoamerican cultural area. In the west, the Maya civilization flourished for hundreds of years. The dominant state within Honduras's borders was that based in Copán. The Mayas of this civilization survive in western Honduras as the Ch'orti' tribe. Remains of other Pre-Columbian cultures are found throughout the country. Honduras borders the Caribbean Sea on the north coast and the Pacific Ocean on the south through the Gulf of Fonseca. The Honduran territory consists mainly of mountains, but there are narrow plains along the coasts, a large undeveloped lowland jungle La Mosquitia region in the northeast, and the heavily populated lowland Sula valley in the northwest. In La Mosquitia, lies the UNESCO world-heritage site Río Plátano Biosphere Reserve, with the Coco River which divides the country from Nicaragua. The Islas de la Bahía and the Swan Islands in the Caribbean Sea are part of Honduras. The region is considered a biodiversity hotspot because of the numerous plant and animal species that can be found there. Like other countries in the region, Honduras contains vast biological resources including rain forests, cloud forests, mangroves, savannas and mountain ranges with pine and oak trees, and the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. Honduras debuted in Miss World 1955 but no representative have placed in the semifinals. This year, Jennifer Giselle Valle Morel, Señorita Honduras 2012, will try to become Honduras' first placement in Miss World this year in Ordos.

The Times of Beauty proudly presents Jennifer Giselle Valle Morel, Señorita Honduras 2012, in an exclusive interview for our interview series, Meet the Misses.

1. Give us an introduction of yourself, your country and your hometown.
I am 17 years old and was born in Tegucigalpa, capital of Honduras. I speak English and Spanish. I am studying medicine and my family environment always has been very traditional in accord to Christian principles and values which I share with my brother. My hobbies are singing, modeling and reading. I dream to be a pediatrician and showcase my country through beauty pageants around the world. I was born in Tegucigalpa but I have lived all my live in San Pedro Sula, the industrial capital of Honduras.
My beautiful country, the heart of Central America, is rich in culture and tradition. It is divided in 18 departments. The majority of its territory is tropical jungle contributing to its biodiversity. My country is ethnically diverse consisting of two big ethnic groups: the mestizos which are the majority, the indigenous tribes (lencas, misquitos, tolupanes, chortis, pech, tawahkas), the garifunas and the criollos.
Honduras has the second largest reef in the world with three islands: Roatán, Utila and Guanaja. We have beautiful beaches in the departments of Cortes and La Ceiba. The impressive Mayan culture is evident through valuable ruins situated in Copan. They are the symbol of the legacy they left in the Honduran territory which are studied by archeologists from around the world. Honduras also has several natural reserves considered by UNESCO as world heritage sites. They are the Rio Platano Biosphere and the Cuero y Salado Mangroove.

2. What are your plans for the future?
In the short term, I plan to conclude my reign with great accomplishments and later enter the modeling industry. I see myself in the future in a medical career doing good for my community. I also see myself as a mother in a family based in principles and values.

3. What are you most proud of?
I am proud of having God in my life and with him in my mind I mold my character, personality and establish goals in my life.

4. Which activities make you lose track of time?
I love books, to when I read I forget about everything and immerse myself in the creative world of the book while I read it.

5. If somebody was describing your personality what would they say?
People that know me know that I am responsable, courageous, positive, altruistic, detail oriented, generous, serious, patient and very sensible.

6. What is something you know you do differently than the most other people?
I think many people have problems listening to others. I always try to listen to others before talking or judging others.

7. Have you done anything memorable lately?
In the meantime, my family, friends and acquaintances remember my participation in Miss Honduras 2012. They remember my social work helping burnt children and children with cancer in my country. I plan to leave a mark in their hearts as a proof of benevolence and generosity which characterize the Honduran women that I proudly represent.

8. Which is worse, failing or never trying? Why?
Definitely never trying is worse because when we fail we learn from our mistakes throughout life.

9. If you could teach anyone anything, what would that be?
I would live to create concience in humanity about the value of life and how sacred and invaluable is each human being. Life is God’s biggest gift. We must respect human rights because that’s the way we can live on the peaceful place that we all want the world to be.

10. How do you define beauty? How will you prepare for Miss World to achieve your vision of beauty?
I think physical beauty is a gift from God. Therefore it must be used to project the true beauty of a human being: inner beauty. To demonstrate this, I am working on several causes such as helping burnt children and children with cancer, transmitting to them positivism and good vibes.

11. Share a message to your supporters and readers of The Times of Beauty.
It is important to leave behind the indifference. We must see everyone with equality and respect, a noble attitude allows us to achieve more than we can imagine.
