GUATEMALA | 2012 Meet the Misses e.24 - Miss Mundo Guatemala 2012

Guatemala is a generally mountainous country. Two mountain chains enter Guatemala from west to east, dividing the country into three major regions: the highlands, where the mountains are located; the Pacific coast, south of the mountains; and the north of the mountains. All major cities are located in the highlands and Pacific coast regions. These three regions vary in climate, elevation, and landscape, providing dramatic contrasts between hot and humid tropical lowlands and colder and drier highland peaks. Volcán Tajumulco, at 4,220 meters, is the highest point in the Central American states. The Tikal National Park, a landmark of the Mayan culture, is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guatemala is a country of distinct fauna. It has some 1246 known species. Guatemala is worldwide known as a biodiversity hotspot. The nation debuted in Miss World back in 1976 and this year Monique Georgette Aparicio López, Miss Mundo Guatemala 2012, will be the face of Guatemala in Ordos.

1. Give us an introduction of yourself, your country and your hometown.
I am spiritual, humble and an enjoyable person to be around.
I was born in Guatemala. Guatemala is a beautiful country that once you see it for the first time you will fall in love with it almost immediately and when you really get to know more about it and you see the landscapes, culture, places and adventures, it will take your breath away.

2. What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to live my life under God’s light in every step I take, pursue positive journalism, I also would like to work in one of the best fashion companies in Guatemala and help the different organizations that are dedicated to make my country a better place.

3. What are you most proud of?
I feel proud of my growth as a person, to be able to look into my past and smile because no matter how hard it was at times, it made me become the person that I am today.

4. Which activities make you lose track of time?
I greatly enjoy writing articles, stories and songs that are focused on a positive and inspirational message.

5. If somebody was describing your personality what would they say?
They would describe me as an idealist and a dreamer.

6. What is something you know you do differently than the most other people?
Research and learn more about history, art, important people, curious facts, etc.

7. Have you done anything memorable lately?
This interview, since it’s the first window to get to know me better.

8. Which is worse, failing or never trying? Why?
To never try, because failure means you are getting close to success if you keep trying, but if you never try you will never have the chance to succeed.

9. If you could teach anyone anything, what would that be?
Faith, to know that our past serves a very special purpose in our future, to never let ourselves down for our failures but to have Faith in God that every day is a new beginning.

10. How do you define beauty? How will you prepare for Miss World to achieve your vision of beauty?
I define beauty by the person’s principles and values and how with their unique essence they know how to convey their inner beauty with gestures and a glance.
