GERMANY | 2012 Meet the Misses e.45 - Miss World Germany 2012

Germany consists of 16 states while the capital and largest city is Berlin. It is one of the major political powers of the European continent and a technological leader in many fields. Beginning in the 10th century, German territories formed a central part of the Holy Roman Empire. During the 16th century, northern German regions became the center of the Protestant Reformation while southern and western parts remained dominated by Roman Catholic denominations. The two factions clashed in the Thirty Years' War. After the occupation during the Napoleonic Wars, most of the German states unified and formed the German Empire. After the German Revolution and the military surrender in World War I, the Empire was replaced by the Weimar Republic in 1918, and partitioned in the Versailles Treaty. Amidst the Great Depression, the Third Reich was proclaimed in 1933. The latter period was marked by Fascism and the World War II. After 1945, Germany was divided by allied occupation, and evolved into two states, East Germany and West Germany. In 1990 Germany was reunified. Germany has the world's fourth largest economy. The country has developed a very high standard of living. Germany has been the home of many influential scientists and inventors, and is known for its cultural and political history. From its roots, culture in Germany has been shaped by major intellectual and popular currents in Europe, both religious and secular. Historically Germany has been called Das Land der Dichter und Denker (the land of poets and thinkers). Germany has established a high level of equality in gender, sexual orientation and disability in a social and legal level. Germany debuted in Miss World 1962 and won the crown in 1956 with Petra Susanna Schürmann. This year the nation will be represented by Martina Ivezaj, Miss World Germany 2012.

The Times of Beauty proudly presents Martina Ivezaj, Miss World Germany 2012, in an exclusive interview for our interview series, Meet the Misses.

1. Give us an introduction of yourself, your country and your hometown.
I, Martina Ivezaj, now 23 yrs old, was born in Schwabmünchen (Bavaria) and raised in the small resort of Bad Woerishofen. Currently, I am living in Augsburg (also Bavaria) which has a beautiful old town and work as a district manager of a casino chain. By the way, prosperous Bavaria is one of 16 federal states of Germany, has an amazing landscape with woods, mountains and borders to Austria and the Czech Republic.

2. What are your plans for the future?
My greatest wish for the future is to stay healthy and I dream about a nice little house where I live married with children and enjoy having a good job.

3. What are you most proud of?
I am proud of my wonderful family. They are my best friends as well. The whole family always supports me, nevermind in which situation I am in. I can always rely on them.

4. Which activities make you lose track of time?
To chill out with my parents in their living room.

5. If somebody was describing your personality what would they say?
One would describe me as a calm and patient person. However, to be always game for a little fun, spontaneous, helpful, down to earth, realisitc and sensible. Martina has a strong will and understanding.

6. What is something you know you do differently than the most other people?
Funny, I do everything twice: washing hands, brushing teeth, checking whether I locked the door etc

7. Have you done anything memorable lately?
One night, I sat together with two female friends at a lake. For hours we talked about our childhood and youth, laughed a lot and finally swom. I love the simple good things.

8. Which is worse, failing or never trying? Why?
Never trying is worse. You will not get it out of your head that you had the opportunity, didn't used it and will never find out the result because you can not turn back time.

9. If you could teach anyone anything, what would that be?
If I could teach mankind, I would try to make people realize that they can solve problems in good and not by war.

10. How do you define beauty? How will you prepare for Miss World to achieve your vision of beauty?
Beauty is what we have inside, what we feel, how we think and act. You are only beautiful if you are a value-driven, good human being. I will be myself!
