2011 Meet the Misses v.2 - Miss Mundo Argentina 2011

Argentina, the eighth largest country in the world, is located in the southernmost portion of South America. The Argentine lands are marked by the rugged mountains of the Andes on the west, the fertile central plains of the Pampas, the oil rich southern plateau of Patagonia and the subtropical northern flats of the Grand Chaco. Argentina is home of Mount Aconcagua, the highest point in the western hemisphere, and Laguna del Carbon which is the lowest point in South America. The capital of the nation, Buenos Aires, is the second largest metropolitan area in South America and it is known for its European-style architecture. Argentina is widely known as one of the most progressive states in Latin America. In Miss World, Argentina had years of glory since its debut in 1959 until 1987. The nation produced two winners -Norma Cappagli (1960) and Silvana Suarez (1978)-. No Argentine representative have placed in the semifinals of the pageant since 1987. Antonella Cecilia Kruger Flores, Miss Mundo Argentina 2011, will try to break the drought and place for the first time in 24 years.

The Times of Beauty proudly presents Antonella Cecilia Kruger Flores, Miss Mundo Argentina 2011, in an exclusive interview for our interview series, Meet the Misses.

1. Give us an introduction of yourself.
My name is Antonella Cecilia Kruger. I am 18 years old, born under the sign of Libra. I was born in Zarate, a city in the Province of Buenos Aires. I grew up there together my family. I like art, music and especially dancing. I am very diplomatic and support justice, that's why my ambitions is to become an excellent lawyer in my country. I am also interested in communications and ecology.

2. Tell us a bit more about your country and hometown.
My beautiful country is a sovereign state divided into 23 provinces and one autonomous city, Buenos Aires, capital of the nation. It is the second largest country in Latin America and eighth in the world. It shares borders with Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia, Uruguay and Brazil. It consists of prairies, plateaus and mountains, which has a wide variety of climates. It is a country with great tourist attractions ranging from Salta Province, north of the country, the province of Tierra del Fuego, located at the southern tip of Argentina.
Argentina is the birthplace of Tango and great performers, composers and dancers such as Carlos Gardel, Tita Merelo, among others. It is also known for its variety of ethnicities. Argentina has many national holidays with several of them honoring our native cultures.
As for my city, Zarate, located in the northern province of Buenos Aires, it was appointed as the provincial capital of tango in 2009. This is because Zarate was the cradle of great singers, performers, dancers and composers of this genre so characteristic of Argentina. It is an industrial city, very attractive, located on the banks of the Rio Parana.

3. What does it mean to you to represent your country at the 61st Miss World finals?
To me, it is an honor to represent my country in the world’s largest beauty contest. I am proud to be chosen for bringing together physical beauty, intellect, talent and above all social responsibility which is very important in this competition. I take each step in my life with dedication, effort and without ever giving up. This represents more than a dream come true in my life, it is a unique opportunity in which I will give my best

4. If you have to choose a song to describe yourself, which would you choose and why?
I can name two songs that move me, and maybe in this way I can describe myself. They are We are the World and Don’t Cry for me Argentina.
We are the World because being aware of the responsibility with others and ourselves is fundamental in life and Don’t Cry for me Argentina, because I love my country and our history.

5. How would you describe a typical day in your life?
A typical day in my life would start by getting up at 9 am, drink mates (tipical drink in my country) with my parents, then go to the gym, visit friends and teach gymnastics. In the afternoon go to law school in a town near Zárate, and finally sharing a family dinner.
Along with the national organization, I am working in giving lectures and presenting institutional videos on human trafficking to raise awareness among young adolescents about the dangers we are exposed. I train in our Escuela de Misses, to arrive Miss World with a good preparation to represent my country as a true ambassador of beauty.

6. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
I see myself professionally as an excellent lawyer and working as a prosecutor of the nation. This means that I would have achieved my career goals. A personal goal is becoming a professional dancer. I hope to start a family and pass the great values that my parents taught me. I would like, through my profession, to be able to change aspects of society, do justice and promote welcoming changes for my country, and even better for the world.

7. Which well known person from your country you most admire and why?
I admire Dr. Rene Favaloro, an Argentinean doctor that made a great contribution to cardiovascular surgery. Favaloro began thinking about the possibility of using the great saphenous vein in coronary artery surgery. He put into practice that idea which eventually lead to the standardization of this technique, called the "bypass" or CABG. This was the most transcendental work of his career, which built its reputation beyond the boundaries of this country, since the procedure radically changed the history of coronary disease . Despite having an opportunity to continue his career and aim to the highest level abroad, Rene returned to Argentina with the objective of creating a foundation, which he called Fundacion Favaloro.

8. If you had to choose any other country to live in, which one would you choose and why?
I would still choose my country, I am aware of the wealth this country, its diversity, its geography, culture, production, biomes, flora and fauna, which are some of the features that makes it unique and complete. It is a place of social interaction which helps our society. This is the country that makes me happy. If I still have to choose then I would like to be in a country where I could help with my profession and knowledge and a place that allows me to be happy

9. After the Sendai Earthquake, nuclear energy has become a focus of attention. Are you in favor or against the use of this kind of energy as a way to reduce the dependence on oil?
In my opinion, the world should develop other types of energy that do cause damage.

10. What do you think is the worst kind of human injustice or prejudice happening now?
The worst kind of injustice is the high amount of violations of human rights under different scenarios.

11. What are your duties as Miss Mundo Argentina?
Be a worthy ambassador of my country, show the culture of Argentina in the world and carryout my social responsibilities such as my project "Trata de Personas". Other functions are to bring the values of the national and international Miss World organization to all the provinces of my country and to young women and show them that to become a better human being we should not rely solely on beauty. Health, sports, talent, social responsibility and education, is what inspire people to contribute to a better world and become better persons.

12. What role can social media (ex. Facebook, Twitter, etc) play in the life of a beauty pageant titleholder?
I think it plays a fundamental role, and thanks to these tools. People collaborate by giving their opinion on the expectations they have on the beauty queen. It can serve as a tool of information and a way to discuss issues with the beauty queen during her reign.

13. What does it mean to be a human being?
Being a human being means to be a thinker, to be able to make and destroy. It represents the highest level of evolution. Sometimes humans focus their superiority in taking advantage of others by living of natural resources, by changing and often destroying. To be human is to feel, think and act, and use his or her reason for good or evil.

14. What do you feel is your purpose in life?
I am on my way to find out. I think my short life experience so far made me realize the thousands of things that interest me. I have ambition, knowledge and desire to try and to do my best in helping change the world. I have a good purpose in life.

15. Share a message to your supporters and readers of The Times of Beauty.
I want to share a quote from Dr. Rene Favaloro, whom I admire, "We must work, work, and work with passion. There will be time for leisure fruitful for the benefit of all. We must strive to improve ourselves individually but understanding that we are part of society that demands our participation. The most prominent is our single largest position is our social commitment. It is time to work with true humility and modesty. We must learn not to get dizzy with the height of the mountain. In the mountain life never reaches the top. "

and finally...
Personal Motto: Nothing is impossible if you do it with passion, without hurting others to get it. Life will challenge you. However, after a hard journey the reward will be happiness and the feeling of satisfaction.
